You could fish from the terrace at Eagle House, Pimlico, one of the largest private riverside houses in central London, which has just come on to the market for £3.95m.

"There is only one other whole house bigger on the desirable north bank of the Thames, between Vauxhall and Chelsea," says Penny Court of selling agent Beauchamp Estates. "When it was built four years ago it was quite a project to pull off in such a prominent spot."

Eagle House is close to Vauxhall Bridge in Westminster. It covers 4250 sq ft over five floors - four with their own outside space - and looks like a giant glittering greenhouse.

The property has four bedrooms, three reception rooms and a cinema. It has had one absent owner since it was built as part of the redevelopment of the defunct Eagle Wharf.
